Radio Citizen goes acoustic! After all this time, it felt good to leave our samples, electronics and studio paraphernalia at home.
Instead, we took our instruments and dived into the chiaroscuro atmosphere of the wooden concert hall of the Amerika Haus in Munich. Built in the late fifties to foster German-American relations, the spirit of great jazzperformers lingers still in the air.
Mal Waldron, among others, has performed here many times. He is a wonderful composer and Jazz pianist whom we deeply admire – and not only because he accompanied legendary singer Billie Holiday. To Waldron, who spend several years living in Munich, we dedicate our dreamy, subaquatic interpretation of his song Warm Canto.
With Did You Waltz, Waduba, Swim Three Birds and Fleure we celebrate the thriving beauty of odd rhythms. The moods swings from light-footed euphoria to brooding urban melancholy and back again. We don´t mind the grey skies, cause they are just clouds passing by....
Exeptional style. Also love the artworks by Norman Ackroyd. They suit the music in some natural way, kind of the perfect input for imagination over the music.
Makes me really happy that such beautiful things exist.
