Radio Citizen goes acoustic! After all this time, it felt good to leave our samples, electronics and studio paraphernalia at home.
Instead, we took our instruments and dived into the chiaroscuro atmosphere of the wooden concert hall of the Amerika Haus in Munich. Built in the late fifties to foster German-American relations, the spirit of great jazzperformers lingers still in the air.
Mal Waldron, among others, has performed here many times. He is a wonderful composer and Jazz pianist whom we deeply admire – and not only because he accompanied legendary singer Billie Holiday. Difficult to name a favourite track, however if I was forced to choose an all time favourite album this would certainly be up there at the top. I'm in the UK but it was a friend in South Africa that introduced me to Gondwana. Absolutely beautiful album from start to finish, amazing musicians and composition both. Thank you, it inspires me to become a better musician. raiscott
